The 2009 US Youth Soccer Region IV Tournament was held in Lancaster California June 15 -21, 2009 at the National Soccer Center.  The top 248 boys and girls teams from 14 Far West State Associations that make up US Youth Soccer Region IV competed for the regional title. Teams played a round robin schedule June 15-17, 2009 followed by a day of rest before qualifying teams advanced to the quarterfinals June 18, 2009, semifinals June 19, 2009 with the championship matches played June 20, 2009.  

Alaska teams were represented in 13 of 16 divisions.  All but one Alaska team was eliminated in preliminary round play.  The 97 Girls Blue advanced to the semi-finals where they were defeated 2-0 in a tough match by the North Cal team.

The girls were awarded a plaque and medals for their efforts.  The only other team to make it to the semis was the 88 Boys team coached by Tim Valesko (Current CISC Coach).  The 97 Girls Blue team advanced further than any girl’s team in Alaska Youth Soccer history at the Far West Region IV tournament.
